Jakarta. When aircraft taking off or about to land, passengers often feel pain in the ear due to changes in air pressure. These complaints can be relieved in many ways, among others, with a tissue and hot water.
Painful ears on a flight is because the ear trouble adapting to the changes of air pressure outside. These pressures lead to blockage the airflow from the nose to the ear that passes through the fallopian eusthacii, so the air trapped in the cavity of the ear and it hurt.
Aviation health experts from the Air Force, Dr. Henry Mulyawan, SpBS provide practical ways to release air trapped in the ear while on a plane. Simply by using paper towels and cups of hot water, which are all available in the flight attendants.
The trick, a tissue inserted into the glass to heat water in it and is absorbed into the fibers so as not to spill if at any time of the shocks in the cabin of the aircraft. Bring towels and a glass of hot water into your ear, then let the steam fill the ear cavity.
This steam will relieve blockages in the fallopian eusthacia, so the air trapped inside the ear cavity can be removed. The pain and ringing will be reduced when the trapped air has been removed with the aid of hot air.
Alternatively, if no paper towels and hot water then simply by closing the nose with one hand. Then gently exhale from your lungs with your mouth closed so that the pressure is so urgent arrived eusthacii open the blockage.
There is also the most convenient way, which by making chewing movements or swallowing something. This makes it fairly easy to do, but sometimes not much help on a specific person whose ear is sensitive or is experiencing a sinus infection.
“Pain in the ear while on a plane due to air pressure changes, not because of the noisy sound of aircraft engines,” said Dr. Henry after was sworn in as a doctoral biomedical sciences at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia, Tuesday (10/01/2012).
